It's similar to EMTP in principle but more user friendly and convenient. The capability of simulating power system's element such as Synchronous Machines, Asynchronous Machines, Transmission Lines, Line Breakers, FACTS Devices, Power Electronic Elements, Control Blocks and etc. has made it so popular for power engineers as well as students.
